Select X-Particles >X-Particles Online Updater update. Just move you x-particles out of your plugins folder, start c4d, close c4d, move x-particles back into your plugins folder and start c4d again.

Within Cinema 4D, Select X-Particles > Change Serial Number, enter your New X-Particles 4 serial. In the end the solution insydium gave me that worked was to uninstall and re-install.
